Spring Time ...

I have to admit I love Spring. I fully enjoy watching the buds opening on the trees, seeing the grass turn green again and the extended time with daylight is great too!!!
Since it is the season of awakening, my husband and I are in high gear cleaning house shaking off our winter hibernation groggyness. I have to admit that I have not been as busy painting as I should be but soon I will be hitting those canvases again. I have two painting in progress, which I will post soon, that I need to get back to.

Hunter-Jumper - Work in Progress

As I enjoy the snow falling out my window I am painting away at the easel on a quiet Sunday afternoon. I thought I would post my progress so that you all can follow along. In the above photo I have painted a very general background and a basic drawing of my foreground figures.



Here you can see I have painted out the tree which seemed too strong an element and was taking away from the horse and rider forms. I have also started to add some color to the horse and rider.

I have paused my painting session for today as I am ready to settle down with my hot cup of tea with honey and stare blankly at the television for awhile. Sunday evenings are great for that!! :)

Here are two new 12" x 9" paintings. They are original acrylic on panel and currently listed on ebay under the ID artjenifer9999 for 29.99 each. They would look great together or on their own. Perfect little pieces to give as last minute gifts to the horse lover in the family!!

Quarter Horse Congress

We have great weather here in Columbus, the sun is out in full force and I am having a wonderful time wandering the grounds. I stopped by Congress Hall and visited with the guys, Paul and Phil. They are great guys and it is so fun to watch Phil work the crowd answering any questions people may have while Paul is busy at the laptop. Tuesday October 7th

Well Monday has gone by and Tuesday is here. Only three days left (including today) till we pack up the truck and leave for Congress. I am very excited and at the same time dread leaving work because of what will be waiting for me when I return. I will have to deal with that when I get back I suppose. This morning I overslept and had to run out the door after my morning shower. I hope I am able to rise a little earlier tomorrow. Hmm did I remember to feed the cat this morning??? Yes, I think so.

Last night I made some adjustments on the fall landscape painting per the request of the client. I hope he will enjoy his little year round piece of New England fall. I will post pictures tomorrow.

NJEAA "Art of the Horse"

Two of my acrylic paintings were accepted into the New Jersey Equine Artists Association national juried art show "Art of the Horse" and are currently on display at the Somerset Art Association in Bedminster, New Jersey.

After attending the opening I can confidently say it is quite a beautiful show full of talented artists. Several of which I know from the Equine Art Guild (Linda Shantz , Debbie Flood, Patricia Getha, Susan Monty and Joan Jannaman )

"That's How I Roll" 36"x18" Acrylic on Canvas

I really love the colors this roan's coat. The subtle dusty colors in his coat are captivating. While I was photographing him he had a good time rolling in the dirt and I got a number of pictures of him in the act.

I just love seeing a horse just being a horse. So here is a painting of just that.
